  16. INTRODUCTION
  17. ------------

  19. AWeb is a totally new World Wide Web browser for the Amiga computer.
  20.  
  21. It offers the following features:
  22.  
  23.  o AWeb doesn't use Magical User Interface (MUI). It uses BOOPSI classes
  24.    instead, which results in less memory usage and increased speed. The
  25.    BOOPSI classes are partially custom designed for AWeb, and partially
  26.    from the ClassAct kit.

  28.  o AWeb can use AmiTCP/IP, I-Net225 or AS-225 as its TCP stack. Without
  29.    TCP stack running, you can still view local files.
  30.  
  31.  o AWeb uses extensive internal multitasking, which leads to total
  32.    asynchroneous and parallel network access. Images are starting to load
  33.    while the document is still loading. It is possible to follow a link
  34.    while the previous document is still loading. A separate network status
  35.    window shows all pending network and local file accesses. All network
  36.    accesses can be interrupted immediately.

  38.  o The HTML-2 standard is fully supported, including forms. For buggy
  39.    pages not conforming to the standard, AWeb offers a compatibility mode.

  41.  o AWeb supports the use of proxies for HTTP, FTP, Gopher and Telnet.
  42.    Because some proxies can't handle forms or other special cases, the use
  43.    of proxies can be temporarily disabled from the menu.

  45.  o The HTTP and Gopher protocols are supported internally. By using
  46.    external programs, FTP and Mailto can be used too. HTTP user 
  47.    authorization is supported.

  49.  o AWeb lets you load all images, delay all image loading, or load only
  50.    clickable maps and delay other images. For delayed images, the ALT text
  51.    is taken into account. Transparent GIFs are supported. The 24-bit picture
  52.    datatype (picturedtV43) is supported.

  54.  o To improve network speed, host names and network addresses are cached
  55.    so addresses are looked up only once during a session.
  56.  
  57.  o AWeb can open it's windows on the default public screen, on a named
  58.    public screen or open its own screen.

  60.  o In extension to its own hotlist, AWeb can read the hotlists of
  61.    AMosaic and IBrowse.
  62.  
  63.  o An advanced settings requester is integrated in the program.

  65.  o AWeb has an ARexx interface, and a unique and powerful shell command
  66.    interface.

  68.  o AWeb is FAST. Tests show that AWeb is much faster than IBrowse, and
  69.    slightly faster than Mindwalker and even ALynx.

  105. It's freeware: you may use it for an unlimited period without paying. This
  106. is because I really don't want to force you to pay for a HTML-2 only
  107. browser.

  110. personalized key file that will unlock the multiple window function.
  111. The registration fee is US$ 35, NLG 50, DEM 50, or GBP 25.
